How people search
Newcomers set the tone. A city that gained 22.7% in three years has thousands of households that arrived after last year's reviews were written, so they search for a service plus New Braunfels, read what comes up and call the first business that answers. The 2018-2022 survey puts the housing stock at 39,092 units across 45.035 square miles, and the density at 2,065 residents per square mile, close to the 1,923 of the typical Texas city in our set.
These households read before they buy. Median household income is $85,827 against $76,686, the median age is 36.1 against 35.2, and 38% of adults hold a bachelor's degree or more against 31.3%. A median home value of $290,800 (typical $246,300) and median rent of $1,426 (typical $1,313) mean owners are protecting a larger asset, and 36.2% of households rent, a little under the 38% norm. Most of them do not work in town. A chamber study reported by Community Impact found that 73% of residents commute outside the city, and among those earning more than $40,000 a year, 78.4% commute to San Antonio or Austin. In the survey, 18.8% of workers travel 45 minutes or more, against 15.6% typically, while 11.4% work from home. Searches therefore arrive in the evening, at lunch from a desk elsewhere and on weekends, and the phone is often the first screen.
Visitors add a second rhythm. A 2025 impact study counts 16,475 hospitality jobs, $376.3 million in wages and 32% of city employment, and Visit New Braunfels reports about 6 million visitors and $1.3 billion in revenue in 2025. Tubing on the Comal River and the Guadalupe draws summer crowds, Wurstfest fills November and Wassailfest fills December, and 2.4% of homes are held for seasonal use (typical 0.3%). People in that group search "open now" and "near me", so correct hours are worth more than long descriptions.
On the map
Customers rarely type a street address. They name Gruene, the Comal River or Unicorn Stadium, and a page that uses the same names reads as local to both people and search engines.

Names come from public city, county and regional sources. Boundaries are informal, and searchers use whatever local name they know.
Who is buying
The city's 2021 list of top employers shows how varied the demand is. Comal ISD has 3,105 employees, Schlitterbahn 2,300, the Walmart Distribution Center 1,379, TaskUs 1,180, New Braunfels ISD 1,131 and Resolute Health 476. A worker at any of them searches for lunch, childcare, car repair and a doctor, and a small business near one of those campuses can name it on its page as a landmark.
Manufacturing is smaller but growing. Continental's plant on Kohlenberg Road added 450 manufacturing jobs after opening in 2022, and the city has discussed an expansion. The chamber's benchmark study counts 49,338 jobs, a 64% increase since 2013, and says the city's 2024-29 strategic plan aims to raise the share of residents who both live and work here. Suppliers, staffing firms and trade-school partners can write for those buyers.
Among residents, health care and social assistance leads with 5,553 workers (11.9%), then retail trade at 5,481 (11.7%), education at 5,165 (11.1%), accommodation and food at 4,407 (9.4%), manufacturing at 4,131 (8.8%) and construction at 3,812 (8.2%). In Comal County, real estate agents number 115, which is 2.38 times the typical county and up 76.9% over the period measured, and physicians' offices number 141. Those county figures are not the city's own, but they show where a new business meets the most similar listings.
What people do for work

Home-service companies, dentists and tutors along the Interstate 35 corridor write pages around evening and weekend booking, because a household that commutes to San Antonio or Austin cannot take a call at two in the afternoon. A booking form, a text option and honest arrival windows matter more here than a long list of services.
Kohlenberg Road and warehouses
Uniform, safety, repair, staffing and training companies can write for buyers at Continental, TaskUs and the Walmart Distribution Center, with lead times and service areas spelled out. Buyers searching from an office want specifics, not a brochure.
Comal and Guadalupe

A page about a narrow service near the Comal River can begin to show up within weeks, while broader searches take months, and nobody can name a date. For a seasonal shop we start before the season, so pages and reviews exist when visitors begin searching. The monthly summary tracks calls, directions and Search Console impressions.
It matters a great deal, because visitors choose from a map on a phone.
